Ata Ur Rehman, Ph.D.

Ata Ur Rehman grew up in Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, and earned his B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Chemistry from the University of Karachi, followed by an M.Sc. in Microbiology. He completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Dalian Medical University, China, where he studied the effects of prebiotics and probiotics on the gut microbiome in metabolic and chronic diseases. In April 2023, Ata joined Duke University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Anesthesiology, focusing on the gut-brain axis, immunoregulation, and the roles of immune cells in colitis, cardiac arrest, and brain injury.

Passionate about advancing translational research, Ata is dedicated to exploring novel therapeutic strategies targeting immune pathways in autoimmune and metabolic diseases. He is thrilled to contribute his expertise to the Voss Lab, where he looks forward to driving impactful discoveries in gastrointestinal and autoimmune research.
